If that didn’t get your attention, you must be crazy.
Today is a special day. Yeah, yeah: “Easter: (Old English: Ēostre; Greek: Πάσχα, Paskha; Aramaic: פֶּסחא Pasḥa; from Hebrew: פֶּסַח Pesaḥ)[1] is a Christian feastand holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion at Calvary as described in the New Testament.[2][3]“ says Wikipedia, but I’m talking about April 8.
April 8: 24 years ago, the world got a little louder, a little kinder, and a lot more awesome when Bonnie Lam (AKA BLAM!) popped into the world, probably with a goofy grin on her face!
Anyways, in honour of her, I’m going to dedicate a post to her. I can’t make the trek to Toronto today with such a busy time (my birthday also falls during exams and celebrating late is always fun because it means you get to have something to look forward to once everything goes back to normal–boring–after such a busy time SO I’m banking on her wanting a bottle of champagne a few weeks late).

I cannot do her justice in one post. She is inspiring, awesome, fit, smart, brave, follows her heart, lives her word, and goes out of her way to make other people feel amazing. She is one of the first people I really really let into my life and one of the reasons I’ve become the person I am today.
When we met, I don’t think Bonnie liked me very much. I thought she was stupid—yeah I said it, stupid—cuz she would listen to her headphones and read Harry Potter during our biology lecture. We were both kin students in a random biology class though, so we ended up sitting together via association of a fun fun friend who ultimately I credit with being the best matchmaker ever! Anyways, we hit it off at Starbucks (aka “Love Nest”) when we met up with the mutual friend to study one day. That day changed my life!
Since then, Bonnie’s been my BFFAEAEAEAEAEEA (best friend forever: always eating always eating always eating…you get the picture). We’ve had adventures, I’ve convinced her to settle down next door to me the cat lady in Sarnia, I’ve earned a reputation in my family for being a lesbian I think because she’s come to every wedding/event I could possibly get away with bringing her to in the last few years, and she’s been my rock!
Even though it blows, I’ve learned from living apart from this girl that friendship transcends miles.

Oh, by the way, remember that TEAM SUPPORT stuff I like to talk about? How friends can help pull you out from a low place? Bonnie did that for me.

During my recovery, she made me a chart and gave me “gold stars” for doing things I thought were scary (but were necessary in my recovery). So if you hear me talking about why I want a gold star tattooed on my butt this summer (and on hers), you’ll understand why.
Do her a birthday favour and check out her blog, cuz it rocks.
And now for the fun part. Warning: even though we appear to be drunk in the majority of these photos, we are not, unless drunk on life counts. Also, it would appear as though we party harder than we do—but taking pictures of hours upon hours and days upon days at Starbucks really wouldn’t make for much fun would it (except the time when she gave me a foot massage at the Chapter’s Starbucks)?
Enjoy.

And, let’s end this with some random friend love:

In other words, or in my words, actually, BON BON: I’m wishing you the best freaking birthday ever and I know this year is going to be full of excitement, following your bliss, and getting more and more awesome. You are the best friend I’ve EVER had and I love you!
