Motivated Monday

Ohhhh, Monday, how I love you!

My alarm was set for 5:30 this morning–but I was up before it.

Today was Day 1 of the “on ramp” program at West London Crossfit. For the next 4 weeks, I’ll be rising early and heading there three days a week to learn the essentials along with a fine group of people who are excited about Life By Design and Move By Design.

In short, Move By Design is a lot like Crossfit but is based on 4 things: Be Mobile, Lift Heavy, Go Fast, Move Slow.

Today, we reviewed what Life By Design is (it does not matter how many times I hear about it, I love the simple genius of living in a way that makes you awesome, on purpose, so of course I’m fired up this morning!), spent a bunch of time working on the “be mobile” aspect, and then did some work! We learned foam rolling, how to use the lacrosse ball, did some dynamic warmup stuff, and then got into functional movements: squats, push-ups, and pull-ups (ring rows). To end things, we did a workout: 200m run / 15 – 12 – 9 reps of those squats, push-ups, and pull-ups (ring rows). I took 6:51 (or maybe 6:54) with push-ups on my knees and using the rings. You have to start somewhere, right?

After things wrapped up, I hit up starbucks on my way home. Stop 1 of 2 for the day, I’m sure. If loving coffee this much is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

Now that I’m all caffeinated, I don’t know what’s got me so excited: starting things off before the crack of dawn on an awesome note or just a load of coffee. I have a feeling it’s a combo, but isn’t it cool to be excited for the week instead of joining the ranks of everyone complaining about the fact that it’s Monday? Or maybe it was seeing Cheri’s post about how to feed a family by design–I think the message is clear for anyone, regardless of age or whether you live alone or with a houseful. Or Ben’s about reality–now you’ll understand what I mean by “special snowflake”…

I know one thing, I’m ready to have a productive day…to do list, look out!

How do you like to start your week?
Do you like Mondays?

  1. 1) I start my week coaching awesome people.

    2) I love monday’s. Seriously, what is not to love? Work is great. Sunday’s are easily the worst day of the week. Not because I dread Monday, but because it won’t come soon enough!

Great job today. I appreciate the shout-out! :)

  2. I think you’ll agree with me when I say that if you don’t look forward to the start of your work week, you’re probs in the wrong job :-D I used to dread mondays in college (maybe more because I always went out and drank 32 oz of beer on sunday nights? nah that can’t have had anything to do with it….), but now I’m pumped for it cuz my internship is fun, actually mainly because there is a cute boy intern sitting next to me all day wahoo! :-P Coffee always helps too that’s for sure!

  3. You are so full of energy and life. Its’ inspiring. i currently live in South Ajax and am very very unhappy here. I haven’t been successful to get a job in my profession (university-trained), nor do I even like that profession. And I can’t seem to land a job in anything else even basic. I keep trying and trying each day and am trying to “hold it together” , but…
I’m 31 and I just want my life to change and feel “right ” for once . I am writer also (a bit of freelance) but fiction writing is my true passion and I have goals for that. Want a roommate? Seriously :) I’m quiet, mature, responsible…even to be roomies for a few months or whatever :) I think London looks fantastic from all the awesome photos you show…heck, maybe I could do a certification in spin class or something while there and get a decent job. I have a TON of debt (lovely student loans) but worry won’t get me anywhere but more stress, so …anyway, know of ANY jobs or anything, I’ll be in London in a flash :)
I’ve been considering doing a course online that is super affordable …something akin to nutiritional certification, or something like that…but not sure what is the best one or the most affordable/quick/online. (I do have a BSc in Biochem/Nutrition) and a BSc in OT…but….
I just want my life to go somewhere for a change. I’ve spent the last decade literaly STUCK…stuck….and dealing with the regret of that + the worry over where I’m headed is just one big thorn right now you know?
Ultimately I want to devote all my time to my fiction writing, but I NEED income and stuff on the side since the former will be a long, personal journey. I’m shy really, keep to myself, so me saying all this out loud here is so …yipes …forgive me :) I’m not really a nut :)

Anyway, if you ever have tips about locations, jobs, certifications, anything, let me know…maybe this is a way to reach out (or at least journal out my worries ;)
