What’s up?
This afternoon, I was totally jazzed to go kick some butts at bootcamp (partner routine, anyone?) but there was a little surprise in store this aft…
Hmmm.
So the power is still out, AKA no bootcamp. I’m not sure if it will be back on by 5:30, when my spin class is set to go, but if it’s not, I’m not going to mind the sunny afternoon off. I might take a walk or maybe a run but I’m also feeling really really really really really (did I mention really?) excited about some stuff I want to work on for my blogggggging future. I have been brainstorming a lot of post ideas, names for perhaps a new site, and thinking about a new direction for me.
Yes it’s cheesy, but…
The best really is unwritten. This song came on in the car today when I was just busting out ideas…too perfect!
This morning I hit up the 7am class at Crossfit. We worked on mobility (see a commonality between the days here? …you have to be mobile before you can lift big loads, kids!), squats, weighted pushups (I did ~1.5 dips before stepping things down a notch), and then some conditioning. 5 rounds of a prowler sprint followed by 10 burpees doesn’t sound too bad, but it’s about 5:3-some seconds of heck.
…I loved it.
I loved breakfast, more however, because it involved bacon.
I pounded most of what I cooked–and learned that bacon and leftovers don’t work in the same sentence. I also cooked up some hardboiled eggs, ground beef, salmon, and there’s a pork roast in the crockpot. I’m kind of doing a Sunday prep on a Thursday (every day feels like a weekend–awesome!) so my fridge and freezer will be ready to go for the next little while here.
My lunch was uber tasty and a take on a spinach salad my mom always made when I was a kiddo. I threw together my special kale, 2 hardboiled eggs, mushrooms, and some more bacon. Did I mention I love bacon?
Did I also mention that I’m not scared of fat? Not even the saturated kind? Lucky for me, a new friend of mine who I met through Life By Design posted about the topic today. Funny how timing has a way of being bang on, huh? Check her site out–she does a lot of the hard work to decide about the things we all wonder about: is fat really bad for me? do I need to eat grains? and then injects her stuff with personality. If you think I’ve got a girl crush, you’re abso-freaking-lutely right!
My afternoon got better (if things can get better than bacon) with a visit to Cafe Of Life. Since Dr. K and Rachelle are both jet-setters on vacation this week, Gainsborough (my normal office) is closed. Lucky for me Dr. Joel checked and adjusted me. The gym’s power might be out, but mine’s certainly on. Other benefits: it’s safe to hit the roads in London–I can check my blind spot again!
I used the clarity to work on that blog brainstorming I mentioned earlier. Powered by Starbucks, the afternoon was perfect. I bought some posterboard so I’m ready for whoever wants to join me for vision board making this Saturday to get inspired.
Did I mention I feel like a million bucks right now?
Let’s chalk it up to bacon, chiropractors, and coffee.
Do you see a chiropractor?
What’s your fav way to eat bacon?

lol bacon is like crack. my dad sometimes makes special saturday breakfasts, with pancakes and bacon, and he makes it reaaaally crispy – like borderline burnt – aaah i love it. Ok I should stop waxing lyrical about bacon now. Chiropractors are awesome too! I found a great one here in the Springs, he’s such a sweet guy and I like that after I tell him what’s up, he sits and thinks for a few minutes before starting to talk
Sometimes he adjusts me but most of the time not…because I crack my own back when I feel the need and that usually does the trick lol. I’m pumped for your new blog ideas!! Although if you decide to move elsewhere, I will totally miss Happy is the New Healthy – you’ve done a lot of growing/discovering/becoming awesome here!
